Tom Deam I just read another link that practically said Perry was the devil. I'm so sick of conservatives believing the garbage that comes out every election about the candidates. Perry has a solid record in Texas just as Bush did and yet if you elect him the end of the world will come! Do they not realize that with Obama in the White House, the world as we know has already ended? We really need to pray for this guy because literally all of hell will try to stop this guy from becoming President!

Linda Ann Agree with you completely Tom...look at the post under this one here on my wall...that was my original post of this quote of Perry's with this photo.....it wasn't up for a minute and the attacks began....that's why I reposted this one....it's been like that all day...the conservative talk show hosts on the radio are also throwing Perry under the bus....meanwhile it's Obama and the Federal Govt who refuse to secure the border and for decades the Presidents before did the same...Rick Perry has a fine record and a lot of experience and Texas is thriving...people and business moving there in droves....Perry said the other day he has been through rough campaigns before..for a spell he said ;-) and he's had to catch a lot of javelins ....made me smile...so hopefully he will be our next President.

Tom Deam I spend alot of my time there. I'm a long haul driver and a lifelong Cowboys fan so I feel right at home everytime I enter the state. I've lived in Cali all my life but it has become so antagonistic toward anyone with common sense that it just feels like there is no saving this once conservative state.

Linda Ann Yup people are moving to Texas in droves alright...businesses too...my daughter moved there in 07 and got a great job in less than a week...2 of her friends went there too and they are also employed in decent jobs...their rent is way better than any rents here (nj) and they have a lot of bonuses...beautiful pools, washer, dryer in apt..fireplace, dishwasher, balcony..and woods, trails, lakes and all kinds of fun..so many stores, restaurants and then there's the country...I got my pug down there on a ranch, sweetest lady ever...somebody is doing something right down there...and Perry's been in charge for 11 years so I'd say he's doing a GREAT JOB!

Perry creates magnets to bring them here and then blames the federal government. How's that fOR "heartless" give me a break. Then he flat out lied saying he supported the AZ law.

Sahar, you're right I'm not allowed to have an opinion because I don't live in Texas even though I have direct family living in the state who vote Republican. They can't stand Perry, but they must also be wrong, too and shouldn't talk because...well..I'm not sure why...You can't defend an indefensible position such as Perry's stance on illegal immigration.

Cory Michael Sahar, I read the article and I do appreciate you providing me with an article to read, but the argument I'm getting from the read is "well Texas is just..different"...I don't find a coherent argument as to why in-state tuition should be given to illegals and the fact that Perry uses the "You don't have a heart" comment is pathetic at best. Not tomention that article comes DANGEROUSLY close to the "you're a racist" argument because no one is arguing against LEGAL immigration. Everyone on that stage understands and embraces LEGAL immigration. March, What you just quoted is what I JUST SAID PERRY SAID. That doesn't mean he supports the law it means he supports their right to do it.

o
Donna Davis because they were brought here by parents, they have attended schools there, grown up there, the federal government will not do their job and secure the borders or deport illegals, the meet the criteria and it promotes them to pursue legal residency and citizenship (which takes about 6 years) these border states are very unique indeed in that they have many decisions they are forced to make because of the failure of the fed, this vote passed the Tx legislature 177 YES TO 4 NO

o
Cory Michael I'm not interested in how much the vote passed by it doesn't make it right and yes, the fed has failed on illegal immigration without a doubt. That doesn't give you an excuse to enable it.
17 hours ago
o
Stace InTexas Cory, Perry had issue with ONE part of the AZ SB 1070. See our law enforcement told Perry they didnt' want to be part of immigration. They didn't want to have to check the legality of an individual before handling the criminality. They don't have a problem with checking legality after the criminality is dealt with though. Texas is one of 9 states that filed an amicus brief in support of AZ's SB 1070.

If you think that way then you better do a little bit of research or go back to school .

o
Stace InTexas Perry's stance on immigration? His stance on illegal immigration is the exact same as anyone on the stage last night. He wants the border secure first.

The in-state tuition is a state issue. 12 other states have it to. The federal government is forcing every state to give illegals a roof over their head, food, and health care. Not to mention the federal government is also busing illegals to our state from AZ and CA at 30k a pop. Texas has learned if they have an education, that THEY pay for, they get citizenship and are no longer on the government dole. It's financially more feasible for Texas.

Donna Davis and they have paid around $160 million in tuition, not the tax payer, this was zero tax liability to Texans
17 hours ago · 1 personLoading...
o
Cory Michael Yes, I know they supported a brief in support of AZ's law and it's nice they did that and I hope they mean it, but the timing is suspect considering the polls were in way in favor of AZ at that point and Rick Perry has a suspect past on immigration at best. It doesn't make it right because "it's a state issue"...I'm glad it's only a state issue and I don't trust Perry based on his past to deal with illegal immigration at the federal level at all. I suspect he'll be alot like Bush.
17 hours ago
o
Stace InTexas Intolerable, Jimmy? Not one single tax payer dime goes to it.

1) In-state tuition is NOT FREE! It is a difference of paying a reduced tuition cost verses an out-of-state tuition cost. Example: $7,100 in-state vs. $17,000 out-of-state;

2) In-state tuition is for everyone who qualifies, no matter their race, color or creed;

3) To qualify, the individual must have:

a) lived in Texas the 3 years leading up to high school graduation or the receipt of a GED;

b) resided in Texas the year prior to enrollment in an institution of higher education;

c) if the student was not a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, he/she must file an affidavit with his/her institution, indicating an intent to apply for Permanent Resident status as soon as able to do so;

4) In Texas, the number of immigrants receiving the reduced tuition is slightly under 1% of the all students at public universities and community colleges;

5) Texas is one of 12 states with in-state tuition: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin have similar in-state tuition laws for immigrants. In 2008, Oklahoma reversed it’s stance on allowing in-state tuition to immigrants.;

6) Governor Perry was not alone when this measure passed. The Texas Senate recorded NO “no” votes. Out of 181 legislators, only 4 voted against the measure.

7) Texas “Dream” act should not be confused with the federal version. The Texas version relates to higher education ONLY whereas the federal act would facilitate giving legal status to children who entered the U.S. illegally with their parents.

Gee Fergie I've travelled all along the border of Texas...down Interastate 10 from Texas to California...by no means does a fence work in texas...it's terrain differs from flat to mountainous, through farms and alongside cities. I lived by the southernmost part of texas...not but less than 2 miles from the river...it's practically a stream and when dry season, they can even drive pickup right through the river...matter of fact, there is a system drug lords have called "Carry and Crash" which means carry drugs through the river, if border patrols chase you...drive back through the river and crash truck...safe drugs...if they lose drugs, the carriers' butt is grass.

Stace InTexas Governor Perry signed a voter id bill and pushed a sanctuary city bill through regular and special session. Texas has allocated more than $400 million in state funding to secure the border since 2005. In the last legislative session alone, $152 million was earmarked for border security. Governor Perry ordered Texas Rangers to the border, has requested (numerous times) National Guard, drones and border fencing in metropolitan areas. Here is Governor Perry’s letter to BHO. : http://dig.abclocal.go.com/ktrk/ObamaBarack08092010.pdf

Too, Texas is one of 9 states that forwarded an amicus brief in support of AZ's SB 1070.

Texas has an estimated 2 million illegals, the second highest. California has the highest population of illegal immigrants. Texas shares 1254 MILES of border with Mexico. California shares approximately 160 miles of border with Mexico.

Texas is doing the best she can with what she has before her. If someone (ANYONE) has a better idea ~ gracious ~ Texas is certainly open to suggestions.

In the meantime, akin to every other state Texas is spending her tax dollars feeding, housing and providing health care on top of paying to secure her 1254 MILE border whereby protecting Texas as well as the other 49 states. Additionally, families not seeking financial assistance only helps our states bottom line.

It is just insane the way that some people just see and think the way that they want to .

Jimmy Z Zulz I talked about this in detail on my show today. There are a finite number of chairs in colleges and universities. If there are illegals in the chairs, that means some citizens were turned away. Also: It is absolutely unconscionable that a US citizen from another state in the US should pay tens of thousands of dollars MORE for tuition in Texas than an ILLEGAL ALIEN would pay. This is as common as common sense gets.

c) if the student was not a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, he/she must file an affidavit with his/her institution, indicating an intent to apply for Permanent Resident status as soon as able to do so;

4) In Texas, the number of immigrants receiving the reduced tuition is slightly under 1% of the all students at public universities and community colleges;

5) Texas is one of 12 states with in-state tuition: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin have similar in-state tuition laws for immigrants. In 2008, Oklahoma reversed it’s stance on allowing in-state tuition to immigrants.;

Gee Fergie lol...Poor jimmy..."can't get more informed then him"???? I guess not...We texans only live in texas...and experience what is here. This bill for ed. in question was passed in texas...Not like he really has any say what we pass or not...I'd rather see children in schools with the rest of them, learning english and become productive citizens than running the streets committing crimes because they are bored and God forbid, future gov't recipients of freebies.

Gee Fergie Let me put it this way, and I'll shuddup lol: UNTIL Obama does his job and shut the borders, illegals will be coming in...you can put a fence up, illegals will keep coming in...ie: in other words, if you don't plug the bucket with water, the water will keep leaking and sending them back, will keep them coming back. Plug the borders, then deal with illegals here. Perry only can do what is best considering that OBAMA is not doing what he SHOULD.

Linda Ann Marc I have been doing that...I don't care if I end up with no friends...Rick Perry is my choice for President and he is an excellent leader....the proof the State of Texas ...even with all of the HARDSHIP they have to contend with THANKS TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NOT SECURING OUR BORDERS FOR DECADES...they, Texas are still thriving....good jobs too not just low paying ones...construction going on, growth, people and businesses moving there everyday....I might too! Jimmy just a couple of weeks ago you were all for Perry...I was on your wall with Rick Hamann and you seemed very supportive of Perry....it seems to me you are being UNREALISTIC over this in-state tuition...ONLY Texas citizens can get that rate so stop carrying on because you can't get it....it's the same in my state...the Universities give a discount for in state citizens...ok? I won't be going on about this all night..I have to pick up my son from work...the conservative radio talk show hosts are bashing Perry today too....all of you that bash him are helping Barack Obama get another term and that will be the death of us...gotta go now..

Linda Ann Thankyou So much Marc and Gee....I would like to see how good of a job another state OVERRUN with illegal aliens does....Oh that's right....California! They are going bankrupt , people are fleeing to Texas! lol....businesses are fleeing to Texas too....so much so that my daughter told me there are signs all over Austin saying too many Californians coming in....I'm sure that's just a few Texans though because my experience there was most welcoming and warm.....so the State of California must have a problemo handling these illegals the Feds are allowing to pour in...but somehow Rick Perry has balanced the budget in Texas and has money left over for a rainy day...hmmph! now how doya like that!

Marissa Martinez Jimmy you brought up the number of seats in a University. Affirmative action ties into it. Seriously spare me with why does someone from another state have to pay higher tuition. Jimmy Z Zulz Marissa, gladly. First, Rick Perry does not need illegal aliens to vote for him to win in 2012 (if he is nominated). Second: Sehar argued that he was illegal and got an eduction, and so therefore it's right. It's not right to give folks who are illegal a better price on tax payer funded schools than US citizens. Third, I don't care whether illegals are on a path to citizenship or not, until they are legal in this country, they should not get a better deal on state run schools than US citizens. That's it, pretty simple stuff.

Linda, I wasn't going to write this but you need to be corrected. First: It is wrong to give tuition discounts to people who are here illegally and for US citizens to pay more than illegals. Period. Second: Marc is a pipsqueak. He accused me of 'attacking' woman on your thread. I said women were strong enough to debate, but you proved me wrong. You are weak and you ran to hide behind a block. Third: Perry is going to fall behind Romney over this. It is ridiculous for you to support Perry in the instate tuition issue. He's wrong. Americans hate it. And Perry will suffer for it, rightfully so. Fourth: You and those on your thread who support instate tuition for illegals are listed on my profile so people can disconnect from you all if they wish. Fifth: Illegal aliens living in Texas are NOT Texas citizens! It's preposterous that you believe such crap. Lastly: We cannot win the election coming up with weak people like you who refuse to see the truth for what it is and react accordingly. I suggest you get back to baking cupcakes or whatever it was you were doing before you decided to try politics online.

• REPUBLICANS REFUSE TO DEFUND OBAMACARE

Read carefully, and twice, so that you understand how serious this is:

"The House Rules Committee has rejected Rep. Steve King’s proposal to FULLY DEFUND ObamaCare, failing to agree to “protect” King’s amendment when it comes to the House floor. Bottom line — Republicans on the Rules Committee refused to play hardball to fully defund ObamaCare. By doing so, they are allowing Nancy Pelosi’s “mandatory” self-funding provisions which many say are unconscionable if not unconstitutional — to stand! This will force this Congress to approve most of the funding for ObamaCare."

Now, understand that we cannot repeal Obamacare until January 2013 at the earliest, assuming that Obama can be beaten on November 6, 2012. And, with a steady approval number of 50%, give or take, that's not going to be as easy as some of us had hoped.

But after two years of implementation and now funding, Obamacare would be nigh impossible to repeal. The law would have its tentacles reaching into our lives in so many ways, many Americans who now favor repeal would have changed their minds.

So, then you might say, we'll have to have it found unconstitutional. And that's another fine option of course, but again after two years of funding and implementing this monster, judges are going to be much more reluctant to just toss it out and cause all kinds of mayhem to a health care system that is being reworked in such great strides.

The thing to do, as I have said on my show for months, is to refuse to fund Obamacare. And so now you must be in contact with Republicans in the House, and especially on the Rules Committee. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. If you don't act now, you are allowing Obamacare to take shape.  --Jz

Two days ago (18 Jan 11) on your show, your guest Matt said he would support a ban on high-capacity magazines and claimed they have no "sporting" purpose. He even went as far as say the average police beat officer had no use for such magazines and that they should be restricted to SWAT officers.

Most of the guns I have aren't for "sporting" purposes. I bought them for self-defense, i.e. for shooting people, not paper or Bambi.

What exactly does Matt consider a "high-capacity" magazine? If you ask most anti-gun pukes, who want all guns banned period, they'll tell you any magazine that hold more than 6 rounds should be banned.

The magazine used by the Arizona crackpot held 30-plus rounds. So what? Does anyone really think he couldn't have murdered just as many people with a 15-round magazine (Glock 19) or a 17-round magazine (Glock 17)? All it would have taken was a magazine change or two, which can be done fairly rapidly or at your leisure if you're shooting at unarmed people.

It should also be remembered that on 6 September 1949, WWII veteran Howard Unruh murdered 13 people with a 9mm German Lugar. The Lugar Unruh used in his rampage held 8 rounds and he had an extra 8 round magazine and 16 loose rounds in his pocket. (A rampage that was probably stopped when he was shot in the thigh by an armed citizen with a .38 revolver)

Matt claimed the average police beat officer has no use for "high-capacity" magazines and that they should only be used by SWAT officers. I think the beat officers during the 1997 Hollywood bank shootout would disagree. I would think the initial officers on scene at the Columbine massacre wished they had 30-round magazines on hand. High-capacity magazines are very useful when you're in a gunfight with armed assailants. There are also countless other times when officers' lives could have been saved if they had high-capacity magazines.

I know some SWAT officers personally, and while they would be somewhat disappointed that an incident be dealt with before they arrive, they would be relieved that the incident was terminated before to0 many innocent lives were lost.

Lastly, I don't trust any politician or anti-gun activist to tell me what type of gun to own, what type of ammunition or what type of magazine to carry in it.

Addendum: Suppose a `ban on "high capacity" magazines is passed. What happens after the next mass shooting, and there will be another mass shooting.

Will the anti-gun folks then try to limit magazines to five or six rounds, or will they try more restrictive restrictions?

Several years ago ago, I attended a discussion on the UN's plan to limit small arms at the Monterey Institute for International Studies. one of the attendees told me that sometimes the anti-gun lobby needs to propose a law they know will not reduce crime. That way, after it fails the public will accept more restrictive measures.

The anti-gun lobby will not stop at restricting "high capacity" magazines.
