I figured out Ann Coulter - and it's very clear what her deal is. She has been upheld as some conservative spokeswoman because she attacks liberals - liberals and leftists, which we agree are bad. But she does NOT affirm conservatism. She never really has. She's built her career on going after liberals and pointing out what they do wrong. But she's never been a true conservative. You can look through her book titles. Not one is about the values of conservatism.
The only reason she was thought to be conservative is because she goes on TV and radio shows, and writes columns and makes commentary on how bad liberalism is. And it is bad. But when it comes time to do something, she's a moderate at best.
The titles of her books tell it all:
(1998). High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton.
(2002). Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right.
(2003). Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism.
(2004). How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter.
(2006). Godless: The Church of Liberalism.
(2007). If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans.
(2009). Guilty: Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America.
(2011). Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America.

Ann Coulter is from Connecticut and went to Cornell! It must have been a hard slog, being a republican in those parts. She might not be a "through and through" conservative, but she is often fun to watch. Lately, she doesn't seem herself. I don't know, she almost seems panicky? Maybe she is getting hate mail from all of Newt's side. She just doesn't sound well. Very jumpy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the two sides are so invested in "their guy", it is wearing them down! The whole world seems on edge, (for good reason). Anyway, I guess you are right. She never was a strict conservative. More like a Chris Christie / Romney / or Giuliani. I hope they are all on speaking terms when these primaries are over!
